Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal, an actress/singer who is
extremely talented and adept in drama and comedy she became a household name as
Peg Bundy (Fox series Married... with Children 1987). The show was awarded two
American Comedy Awards as well as three Golden Globes throughout the show's
long duration. Peg Bundy's persona was very well-known, and Katey continued her
career as a performer, not just in sitcoms but also playing roles that were
quite different from the role that brought her to the attention of. For example,
in 2008 she took on the role of Gemma Teller Morrow, the mother of a
Hell'sAngels-like California biker gang in the show Sons of Anarchy (2008), and
in 2011 her portrayal earned her the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by
an Actress in the TV Series--Drama. Catherine Louise Sagal was born on the 19th
of January 1954, the daughter of director and singer Sara Zwilling and noted
television and film director Boris Sagal. Los Angeles native, Catherine Louise
Sagal started performing when she was just five years old. She later trained in
voice and acting at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. After
being a waitress for a singer in her "salad", she joined the band
"The Group Without a Name" prior to gaining a break with Gene
Simmons, who was part of 1970s rock group KISS. She was also a backup singer
for Simmons and other well-known stars such as Bob Dylan, Olivia Newton-John
and Tanya Tucker. She was also dynamic performing live alongside diva Bette
Midler in one of her "Harlettes" in her extravagant stage shows in
the late 1970s and in the early 1980s.
